33 BEST Waffle Toppings: Sweet & Savory Ideas 🧇

From sweet additions to savory garnishes, we’ve compiled 33 BEST waffle toppings so you can choose different options to create that satisfying waffle delight that’s totally unique to you!

I love waffles, I repeat, I love waffles!

I can have waffles every single day, and I often make them at home without ever getting bored of them.

Want to know my secret?

Well, I rarely ever eat my waffles with the same toppings.

That’s what I love about waffles: There are just so many toppings that go so well with them, and I’m on a mission to try them all.

Another great thing about waffles is that you can have both tasty and sugary waffle toppings, and they will taste equally divine.

I’m telling you: The possibilities are truly endless!

Here are some sweet and savory waffle toppings that you can get creative with.

If you’re fond of strawberries, then you’ll love this waffle topping.

All it takes to make a simple strawberry syrup is adding some fresh strawberries, water, and sugar.

You can also pair this delightfully tangy and sweet syrup with chopped fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and bananas.

This is another classic waffle topping that I adore.

There’s just something truly magical about a full dollop of whipped cream on top of freshly prepared waffles.

You can top the cream with chopped strawberries and some milk or dark chocolate shavings for a delectable flavor profile.

Nothing can beat the simplicity and refreshing tastiness of fresh fruits.

When you combine this with the crispiness of freshly prepared waffles, then you truly have a winning combination.

Fresh fruits that go with waffles include crunchy apples, ripe peaches, juicy berries, and sweet bananas.

You can even top the fruits with some raw honey for an added sweet flavor.

Peanut butter might not be the first thing that pops up in your mind when thinking of waffle toppings, but trust me when I say that it works wonders.

Just spread some creamy peanut butter on top of waffles for an easy and delightful breakfast on-the-go.

For me, nothing beats the combination of ice cream and waffles.

Waffles topped with your favorite ice cream make for a truly scrumptious breakfast.

Belgian chocolate, strawberry, cookie dough, cookies and cream, and butternut scotch are some of the flavors that go with waffles quite perfectly.

Scoop some ice cream and put it on top of warm waffles and devour them right away.

You can also sprinkle some chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, or even some nuts on top of the ice cream.

Prepare a tasty waffle and top it with soft fried eggs for a tasty breakfast.

You can also top the eggs with crispy fried bacon for a more memorable meal.

Top a cornbread waffle with some coleslaw, pulled pork, and barbecue sauce for a heavenly BBQ waffle that you’ll want to have again and again.

When it comes to savory waffle toppings, fried chicken is my ultimate favorite topping.

You can keep things simple and top your waffles with deep-fried chicken with Sriracha honey.

Alternatively, you can go for a hearty meal and top your waffles with deep-fried chicken, salsa, sliced avocados, and jalapeño sauce.

10. Chili

Prepare your favorite chili recipe for a chili waffle breakfast.

Pour a generous helping of chili on top of the waffles and top it with some shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream.

For a scrumptious waffle sandwich, put some bacon, fried chicken, cheese, and maple mayo on a waffle and top it with another delicious waffle.

Waffles with peaches and honey are a delicious breakfast treat.

You can use either fresh or frozen peaches to make a quick and easy topping.

You will certainly love the combination of tangy peaches and honey’s smooth, sweet flavor.

If you are not a fan of ice cream as a topping on your waffle, you can substitute it with Greek yogurt instead.

Greek yogurt works well with the fluffy and crispy waffle.

You can add fresh blueberries or blueberry syrup on top of the yogurt, serve it with a cup of coffee, and get yourself a satisfying breakfast.

If you are craving a sweet treat, why not add your favorite S’mores ingredients on top of freshly made waffles?

Simply spread some marshmallow fluff, add crushed Grahams and some chocolate.

If you do not want anything too sweet, you can use dark chocolate instead.

Whichever you choose, S’mores waffles will definitely be a hit on the breakfast table.

Waffles with lemon curd sauce are spicy and sweet.

It will fill your kitchen with the nostalgic smell of Christmas cookies and holiday baking.

This unique and new recipe is easy to prepare as you can get lemon curd sauce in stores, or you can whip up your own.

16. Tuna

You can also add Japanese mayo, onions, and celery, but you can always make your own version.

This recipe is great any time of the day, and you can customize it to make it even more filling.

The best way to describe these homemade fluffy waffles with pecan praline is that it has a nice, crisp outer texture with soft and chewy insides.

Light and creamy, this waffle recipe uses fresh avocados instead of butter in the airy battery.

Top each waffle with sliced avocados, fresh orange segments, slices of crisp bacon, and maple syrup.

If you love avocado toast, you will certainly be a fan of this recipe.

Set aside the traditional maple syrup and use warm raspberry jam instead.

Raspberry jam waffles are sweet and tender, and the recipe gives a refreshing twist to the classic waffles.

Dust the waffles with powdered sugar before drizzling them with raspberry jam.

You can go the sweet-and-savory route with a pat of salted butter and a peanut butter drizzle.

Caramelized bananas are an amazing addition to a freshly made stack of waffles.

They are a classic breakfast option, or you can eat them as a dessert or snack.

Bananas make you feel full, they are delicious, and they taste better with other ingredients such as whipped cream and Nutella.

30. Shrimp

Take your waffles to a new level by topping them with crispy shrimps and sweet and spicy syrup.

Not only does this seafood dish make for a fantastic brunch, but it can also be served at a party instead of the usual shrimp cocktails.

There are several pizza flavors out there, and you may have tried a lot of them already, but this combination of pizza and waffles will certainly blow your mind.

These pepperoni pizza waffles have all the amazing ingredients you love on a classic pizza, such as pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce.

With waffles as its base, you will be able to enjoy a soft and buttery taste.

There are two things that people love to eat for breakfast: waffles and cereals.

With cinnamon toast crunch waffles, you could combine these two breakfast favorites by making regular waffles and adding a cup of cereal on top.

Another dessert waffle on the list, these Snickers peanut butter waffles are rich and decadent.

The peanut butter drizzled on top matches the sweetness and nuttiness of the classic Snickers bar.

Serve these waffles with whipped cream or crushed peanuts for one crunchy and chocolatey dessert.

The bottom line

Though there’s still no shame in choosing syrup or butter as your waffle topping, these two can only do some much for your taste buds.

Still, that doesn’t excuse you from trying other alternatives down the line.

And I might add: These choices won’t only take your waffle toppings game to the next level.
