Texas Roadhouse Chili Copycat Recipe
This copycat recipe for Texas Roadhouse chili is tasty and not too complicated. Give it a try for a comfort meal for the family.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. beef stew meat
- 1 c crushed tomatoes
- 1 15 oz. can kidney beans
- 2 T olive oil
- ¼ c yellow onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 T chili powder
- 1 t cumin
- 1 T paprika
- 1 T brown sugar
- 1 t salt
- 1 T Italian seasoning blend
- 1 T vinegar
- ¼ T crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 T cornmeal
- ¼ t pepper
- 1 c cheddar cheese (for garnish)
- 1 bunch green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the beef into 1” cubes
- Prep the vegetables by washing and drying them. Dice the onion until you have 1 cup. Mince the garlic.
- Cut the green onion and set aside. Grate the cheese and set it aside.
- Place a large saucepan on medium heat. Add the olive oil to the hot pot.
- Add minced garlic and onion to the saucepan. Stir and sauté for 2 minutes or until the onion is soft.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the beef. Stir the meat and cook it until it is browned and there is no pink left.
- Reduce the heat to low. Add in all of the seasonings (not the cornmeal), brown sugar, vinegar, tomatoes, and beans. Stir to mix.
- Simmer for 15 minutes. Stir every 5 minutes.
- Add the cornmeal and stir it to mix.
- Simmer for 15 minutes. Stir every 5 minutes.
- 11. Serve hot and garnish with shredded cheddar and green onions.

I really enjoyed the recipe it is very close to Texas Roadhouse chili which I adore! Although I did have to make some adjustments. My chili didn't have enough liquid so I doubled the tomatoes and beans. I also doubled the onion and added diced jalapeños. The seasoning was perfect!
