Fluffy and light buttermilk pancakes drenched in maple syrup and topped with melted butter are an American classic.

Traditionalists would have you believe that nothing goes as well with pancakes as maple syrup.

However, when there are endless possibilities and fun pancake toppings to experiment with, it would be a shame to limit yourself to maple syrup only.

Here are some delightful and fun pancake toppings that you can experiment with; each has its own unique flavor that surely takes the pancakes to another level.

If you’re looking for a maple syrup replacement for your pancakes, then look no further than honey.

Its taste, texture, and color are all quite similar to maple syrup.

To add a divine richness to plain honey, pair it with some butter to prepare a delicious pancake topping.

Want to get truly creative with fun pancake toppings?

Try the Grand Marnier Sauce!

Simply mix the orange liqueur, sugar, vanilla, and other ingredients into a tablespoon of Grand Marnier.

Let this mixture heat and thicken in a saucepan for about 10 minutes.

Let it cool a bit and then drizzle it on top of your pancake stack.

Caramel sauce is another great pancake topping.

Just mix four tablespoons of butter into ½ a cup of brown sugar, add a pinch of salt, and then heat the sauce over medium-low heat for about 5 to 6 minutes.

Make sure to whisk the sauce until it thickens and then add a tablespoon of vanilla extract to then mix and cook it for a minute.

Take out that huge Nutella jar and generously smear your flapjacks with this delicious chocolate spread.

Make sure to add strawberry halves on top of the pancakes for a delightfully sweet and sour combination.

Nothing beats this snickers topping when you are craving something chocolaty with your pancakes.

Put three chopped snickers bars in a small saucepan and add ¼ cup of heavy cream in it.

Melt the chocolate over low heat and stir it constantly.

You can even add ¼ cup of maple syrup to the mix.

Pour this delicious topping on your flapjacks and enjoy this unforgettable combinatio

Whole berries have this magical charm that’s unbeatable.

You can make various fun pancake toppings with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and even cranberries.

You can either combine different berries and chop them up for a deliciously tangy pancake topping or use them separately to make a divine berry pancake topping with some whipped cream.

If there’s a fruit that’s meant to be paired with creamy peanut butter, then it’s got to be banana.

There’s just something truly special about a banana and peanut butter topping.

The richness of the peanut butter combines perfectly with the mellow taste of the bananas.

Simply spread some peanut butter on top of your pancakes and put banana slices on them.

For a delicious twist, you can even add chopped peanuts or almonds to the mix.

Soft cheeses like ricotta and cottage cheese add a delectable creaminess to pancakes.

Simply add ¼ cup of icing sugar to a cup of soft cheese and mix it.

You can also add a tablespoon of raw honey to the cheese.
