This recipe makes a fast, cheesy, tasty garlic bread with just a few pantry ingredients you have on hand. We were intrigued by this recipe on TikTok so we decided to recreate it with a few tweaks.

This delectable recipe offers all the flavor of cheesy garlic bread, and it makes a budget-friendly side for lasagna. Just five or so ingredients—so economical and easy to make.

We used mozzarella, but you can use any mild cheese or shredded cheese blend, like chihuahua cheese, muenster, or mild colby jack, just not too soft, like ricotta or cream cheese, since it will all melt out the sides of the tortillas in the air fryer.

  • You don’t have to use cheese. Leave it out and reduce the cook time by a minute or two. The buttered tortillas will get golden brown with just the butter and seasonings. Just watch it closely so it doesn’t burn.
  • You can use any size of flour tortilla but we don’t recommend corn tortillas for this recipe. They tend to get chewy rather than crisp, we found. 
  • Use any cheese you have on hand and any seasonings that you prefer. Leave out the garlic powder if you are sensitive to it, or use your favorite spice blend to make it your own.
  • That said, if you want a more intense garlic flavor, you can brush the tortilla with garlic oil or minced garlic before cooking.

  • Large flour tortillas (we used Mission brand Carb Balance 12 oz, but any will work)

  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 2 T butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 c shredded mozzarella cheese (or other mild cheese), divided
  • ¼ t garlic powder, divided
  • ¼ t Italian seasoning blend, divided
  • ¼ t parsley flakes


  1. We lined our air fryer tray with foil but you can use cooking spray to help keep it from sticking.
  2. Lay one tortilla on the air fryer tray or basket, and the other on a plate. 
  3. Butter each of the flour tortillas on one side.
  4. Sprinkle garlic powder, parsley flakes, and Italian seasoning on the buttered side of each tortilla.
  5. Sprinkle ½ c of mozzarella on each tortilla.
  6. Carefully lift and place the plated tortilla on top of the one in the air fryer basket. Press down lightly.
  7. Cook in the air fryer at 400F for 5 minutes or until the cheese is golden.  
  8. Let sit in air fryer basket for one minute. Then remove with tongs or spatula to a cutting board.
  9. Cut into fourths and serve immediately with your main dish.
