What is Ritz cracker chicken?

This Ritz cracker chicken recipe is baked chicken breast with a crunchy coating of pulverized Ritz crackers. So instead of bread crumbs or panko, this chicken is coated with broken-up, tiny pieces of Ritz crackers.

Supplies to gather

It is so frustrating when I start cooking, my hands are a mess and I reach for something but can’t find it. This is why I started making a habit of gathering all of my supplies and ingredients before I start cooking. Here’s a checklist for tools and equipment:

How to make Ritz cracker chicken

You can prep this recipe in about 10 minutes and it takes 25 minutes to bake in the oven.

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375 F. Spray a 9 x 13 glass baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 2: Cut the butter into small cubes. Set aside.

Step 3: Gather two shallow bowls. In the first bowl crack the eggs in the bowl. Use a fork and beat the eggs until they are thoroughly combined.

Step 4: Add crackers to a zip-top bag. Crush the Ritz crackers with a rolling pin or your hands. It’s okay for them to be varying sizes of panko and small chunks like in the photo below.

Step 5: In the second bowl add in the Ritz cracker pieces, garlic salt, pepper, chili powder, and flour. Stir to combine. Set aside.

Step  6: Dip one chicken breast into the beaten eggs. Rotate the chicken around so that all sides are coated. Use clean hands, tongs or a fork.

Step 7: Dredge the eggy chicken breast in the bowl with the cracker mixture. Make sure that all sides of the chicken are coated. Feel free to use your hands and pat it on there a bit as well. Repeat for all of the chicken breasts.

Step 8: Place each breast in the prepared baking dish in one layer so they aren’t touching.

Step  9: Place the butter cubes in between the chicken breasts in the baking dish.

Step  10: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. The chicken should have an internal temperature of 165 F or when juices run clear when you cut into it. A meat thermometer works great for checking doneness.

Buttered noodles – This is a fantastic side for any chicken dish. It is easy to make. We cook the noodles and then mix them with butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese.

Broccoli in the microwave – It doesn’t get much easier to cook than cooking broccoli in the microwave. Of course, you gotta be care or it will come out mushy.

Skillet Creamed Corn – It’s so easy and so good. A real crowd favorite and also reheats great the next night.

Bacon Cheddar Smashed Potatoes – Crispy and loaded!

Oven-Baked Potatoes – Get this one started about half an hour before your Ritz Cracker Chicken goes in the oven and then finish them alongside. Everything is done at once!

    1. Hi, Patti. It’s a full-size breast. If you end up with one over 8 oz or so, maybe split it lengthwise and reduce the baking time by about 7 mins since a flatter/thinner breast will cook faster.
