Kids with Non-Dairy Needs Get Their Own Drink

The new Silk drink is designed for children, offering nutrients along with a kid-friendly flavor.

Danone North America, the food and beverage company that owns the Silk brand, announced the release of Silk Kids, a new plant-based milk designed specifically for kids ages five and up.

Silk Kids, which is now available on select shelves, is made with a creamy oat and pea blend and promises to “deliver enhanced nutritional benefits to support growing kids.”

Silk Kids is a new non-dairy beverage designed for kids to enjoy.

“…we developed Silk Kids – to provide targeted nutrition kids need in a plant-based beverage they’ll love, because mealtime shouldn’t be a struggle,” Kristie Leigh, registered dietitian and Director of Nutrition and Scientific Affairs at Danone North America.

Danone North America reports that Silk Kids contains 8 grams of plant protein per serving to support muscle health, along with DHA omega-3, choline, and prebiotics. It also has 50 percent less sugar than dairy milk.

Kallie Goodwin, Senior Vice President of Plant-Based Beverages at Danone North America, claims that the new drink is customizable, whether used to top a bowl of cereal for a quick breakfast or poured into a cold glass for an after-school snack.

The kid-friendly drink also includes an interactive game called “Spot the Bees,” featured on the back of the carton, complete with eye-catching designs and illustrations about sustainability programs.
The new plant-based beverage is available in a refrigerated 59oz multi-serve carton, and Danone North America plans a wider nationwide rollout for early 2025.
