By now, it’s no secret that Americans love their pizza. But just how much pizza are we really eating? Turns out, the numbers are more surprising than you might think.
The Pizza Hut’s second annual Pizza Trends Report revealed that the average American eats an staggering 288 slices of pizza annually—enough to fill 240,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The pizza restaurant chain predicted that 2025 will be “a year of more pizza,” with 32% of people expecting to eat more pizza than they did in 2024.
The report also revealed some unexpected pizza pairings. Over half of Americans (59%) think pizza and wings go perfectly together. In the bone-in vs. boneless debate, 46% prefer boneless wings, while 43% choose bone-in.

When it comes to pizza toppings, things get even more complex. While mushrooms (57%) and garlic (41%) are popular, many people are seeking bold, global flavors. In fact, 37% of Americans want to try Mexican-inspired pizza, and 21% are interested in Greek-inspired pizza.
