The Subway you knew is changing.
Much like Subway® is synonymous with customizable sandwiches, its restaurants are recognizable for their straightforward vibe. But soon, that familiar space will feel completely reimagined.
Starting in 2025, the restaurant chain is rolling out “Fresh Forward 2.0,” an update to its 2017 Fresh Forward design that introduces new features to its locations — it is set to “enhance the guest experience” and “improve convenience.”
According to Subway, the “Fresh Forward 2.0” was built on the foundation established with the original Fresh Forward concept. The new design includes bold wall graphics, localized messages and signage, wood accents, and lighting that create a welcoming atmosphere.
Subway claimed early testing has shown that the new design encourages guests to dine in more often and return to Subway restaurants.
“Fresh Forward 2.0 is an exciting evolution of the design, ensuring we continue to future proof our business and deliver on our brand promises of experience and convenience,” said Mike Kehoe, a representative from Subway.
It’s not just about looks. The redesign also supports ongoing digital transformation, with self-serve kiosks, order-ready screens, and kitchen display systems currently being tested in various global markets. Subway also claimed this offers “added convenience for guests and streamlines restaurant operations for franchisees and their teams.”
Early adopters of the new design will be in the U.S., UK, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Panama, and Australia, with other locations rolling it out across the globe soon after.
