Whether you’re stopping by for a snack, picking up groceries, or grabbing dinner, you’re likely heading to one of the big-name grocery stores. According to a new survey, there’s one store that’s leading in popularity in the U.S. right now.

YouGov, a market research firm, revealed that 7-Eleven has claimed the top spot as America’s favorite grocery store for Q4 of 2024. The data is based on interviews with 1,220 people in the U.S. in October, November, and December of 2024.

The convenience store giant scored 97% for “fame,” meaning almost everyone has heard of it. It also got a 65% “popularity” rating, which indicates most people like the store. Only 8% expressed “dislike,” and 24% of respondents were “neutral.”

Though it’s clear that 7-Eleven leads in “fame,” when it comes to “popularity,” the competition is strong, with stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s coming in close behind.

Whole Foods Market, which ranked second, had 95% “fame” and 61% “popularity.” While it’s well-known, 8% of respondents “disliked” it, and 27% had a “neutral” opinion.

Meanwhile, Trader Joe’s secured third place, scoring 94% for “fame” and 64% for “popularity.” Five percent of respondents “disliked” the store, while 25% remained “neutral.”

The survey also revealed some interesting generational preferences. Millennials tend to go for Kroger and Whole Foods Market as their second and third choices, while Generation X favors Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Baby Boomers, however, are more likely to shop at Kroger, followed by Trader Joe’s.
