Tips for making this recipe

About the brownies – You can either buy a pan of pre-made brownies from the store or you can make the brownies ahead of time. If you get the brownies from the store, I advise getting them without icing. I find that tricky to find, so making them ahead is generally the best bet.

Plan ahead – This is a fun treat to make with kids. If you will make it with kiddos, you may want to cut the M&M pieces in advance. Also, depending on the age, cutting the brownie circles in advance may be better.

How to make Turkey Brownies

  • 1 package candy corns
  • 20 candy eyeballs

Step-By-Step

Step 1: Make your brownies in advance. Whenever you choose to make the brownies, make sure that they are completely cooled before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Cut ten red, yellow, and orange M&Ms in half.

Step 3: Using a 3-inch round cutter, cut out ten circles from the brownies. Now, if you don’t happen to have a round cutter that is specifically for this purpose or the exact right size, just find something that you can use. Keep in mind that you want something that will not cut too large or too small of a circle. For example, the average mason jar has an opening of roughly 2.75” and while this isn’t exact, it is really close.

Step 4: Flip each brownie circle upside down so you can frost the smooth bottom. This step isn’t required, but it helps the cookie and decorations sit on the brownie a bit better.

Step 5: Frost each brownie with a thin layer of chocolate frosting.

Step 6: Use a small amount of icing to attach the candy eyes to each Nutter Butter cookie.

Step 7: Add a small amount of frosting to attach an M&M half below the eyes to complete the turkey’s face.

Step 8: Place a Nutter Butter cookie in the center of each brownie, about halfway down, leaving room at the top for the candy corn feathers.

Step 9: Press six candy corns into each brownie around the top to create the turkey feathers.
