Useful Tips

About the chocolate—Chocolate melting wafers work best for this recipe because they melt smoother and are easier to pipe. While we are big fans of chocolate chips, we recommend the green melting wafers for this recipe.

Practice Piping — If you are new to piping, like me, I recommend making a few practice rounds on a plate or extra parchment paper.

Switch Up The Sparkle—You can switch up the sprinkles and even use edible glitter on some of the trees. There is a lot of room for creativity with these.

How To Make Chocolate Christmas Trees

Ingredients:

Festive chocolate Christmas trees, a simple no-bake holiday dessert.

Kitchen Tools:

  • 1 plastic piping bag
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Step-By-Step

Step 1 – First, we want to prepare the parchment paper. Measure out the size of your parchment paper compared to the baking sheet that you will use. Then cut or tear your paper to fit.

Step 2 – Using a ruler and pencil, trace 8 triangles onto the parchment paper, each about 2 to 3 inches per side.

Make sure to leave enough space between each triangle to fit a cookie halfway into the base of each triangle and to provide plenty of room for decorating.

Note: Depending on the size of your triangles, you may need more than one sheet of parchment paper and a baking sheet.

Step 3–  Place the parchment paper, drawing side down on the baking sheet.

Step 4– Place a cookie halfway in each of the triangles.

Step 5– Melt the green chocolate wafers according to the instructions.

Step 6– Transfer the melted chocolate to your piping bag and then cut off a very small tip so that it will be a thin strip of chocolate.

A good tip for getting the melted chocolate into the piping bag is to use a tall drinking glass for support. Place your bag in the glass and roll the top edges over the glass to secure it in place.

Then carefully spoon or pour the chocolate into the bag. Finally unroll the bag from the cup and secure it with a clip or your preferred method.

Step 7– Starting at the bottom of each triangle, pipe horizontal lines of chocolate to form layers, overlapping as you move upward to create the look of a tree. Add sprinkles for decoration while the chocolate is still wet.

Step 8– Repeat for all of the trees.

Step 9– Allow the chocolate to harden and set before removing the trees from the parchment paper. You can place the pans in the fridge to have them set quicker if you would like.
