The whiskey is Stranahan’s highest proof release.
Stranahan’s has been blazing trails in the American single malt category for two decades. Along the way, the Denver-based distillery has earned its place as the most awarded name in its field, with a fan base that spans the country.
Yet, in all this time, it has never introduced a release as significant as the one now making its debut: the Founder’s Release.

The whiskey brand announced this month that customers can now purchase the Founder’s Release, with availability updates available on their website.
“Founder’s Release 12 Year Old is a celebration of…our two decades of craftsmanship, and everyone—especially our loyal Stranafans—who have bottled their passion and stayed the course alongside us,” said Justin Aden, the spokesperson for Stranahan.
Stranahan claims that the special-edition whiskey is aged for 12 years and bottled at 120 proof—the highest proof liquid the brand has ever released on a national level.
It’s said to be made from 100% malted barley and aged in a combination of new American oak barrels and casks previously used for bourbon and blonde ale.
The whiskey features tasting notes of milk chocolate, coffee cream liqueur, pecan, nutmeg, amaretto, cream soda, and clove spice.
Stranahan’s is also hosting a multi-day Designation Day event in Denver and Aspen throughout January, where fans can enjoy rare pours of iconic Stranahan’s whiskeys from the vault.
