How To Make Dill Pickle Dip

Ingredients

  • Cream cheese
  • Dry ranch dressing seasoning mix
  • Dill pickles
  • Deli ham
  • Green onion

The great news is that this recipe only has a few ingredients. Now, you can make a homemade ranch seasoning mix if you want. Ingredients: dried parsley, dried dill, onion powder, dried onion flakes, garlic powder, salt, pepper, dried chives.

Also, a quick tip is to sit the cream cheese out on the counter for about an hour before making this dip.

Step-By-Step

Soften the cream cheese. Set the cream cheese out on the counter and allow it to soften. Set it out 30 minutes to an hour before you are ready to make the dip. If you are like us and keep your house cold, open the cream cheese and put it in the mixing bowl to soften quicker.

Prepare your ingredients. Chop the dill pickles and deli ham into small bite-sized pieces. Remember that these are ingredients for a dip, so be particular about the size of these pieces and make them smaller than you probably initially thought they should be.

Tip: Use a sharp knife to make nice, clean cuts.

Combine cheese and seasoning. Add the softened cream cheese and dry ranch seasoning mix in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula to blend until smooth and creamy.

Add the mix-ins. Gently stir in the chopped dill pickles, ham, and green onions. Stir until everything is combined.

Taste and adjust. Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add a pinch of salt or pepper to taste, depending on the saltiness of the pickles and ham.

Tip: Let the flavors meld for a few minutes before adjusting seasoning for the best result.

Customize the flavor

Adjust the amount of seasoning you add to the dip for a milder flavor. Also, if you want to add a bit of tanginess to it, add a splash of pickle juice.

Also, if you want a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce or jalapeno pepper juice.

For a cheesy option, stir in a handful of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

Add in fresh herbs. Mix in fresh chopped dill or parsley. Chop the herb finely and stir in about one tablespoon.

Add garlic. For a bit of a kick, add in ½ teaspoon of minced garlic or garlic powder.

Storage Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving again to refresh the consistency.

Make Ahead

Prepare the dip up to 2 days in advance and store it in the refrigerator. The flavors intensify over time, making it even more delicious.
