This cheese popcorn recipe is an ideal Netflix watching snack. It full of cheddar cheese flavor and only takes a few minutes to make.
What can be better than that?
Frankly, I wasn’t a big fan of popcorn until recently. There is a popcorn store that went in up the street and they make the most amazing cheddar cheese popcorn ever.
The first time that I tried it, I was quite skeptical.
Then!!!!
Well, let’s just say that store started getting a lot of my money. That is when I knew that I needed to know how to make this myself.
While our recipe still isn’t quite as amazing as the pros, it is darn tasty. It is also much cheaper to make.

How to Store Popped Popcorn
The trick to keeping popcorn fresh is to keep it dry and to keep it in a sealed container. There are a few great options for storing popcorn.
- Allow the popcorn to cool completely before storing it.
- Place popped popcorn in a sealed container.
- Store it at room temperature.
If you want to store your popped popcorn for a long time you can freeze it. Make sure that the packaging is fully sealed. I recommend that you also do a final wrap of cling wrap before putting it in the freezer.

Ingredients for Cheese Popcorn
Popcorn – You can use whatever your favorite brand of popcorn you prefer. I tend to use whatever brand of microwave popcorn is on sale at the time.
However, do note to buy plain or buttery popcorn. With that said, if you want to get creative pick up a flavored popcorn and give it a try. I do recommend staying away from sweet flavors though as they wouldn’t mix well with cheddar cheese.
Cheddar cheese powder – This is a special item that most of us don’t stock in your pantries. If you do, well you are friggin awesome and I like you. However, if you need to order some as I did, then give this brand a try.
Melted butter – We recommend using unsalted butter in this recipe because we add salt to the recipe. That way we control the saltiness of the flavor.
However, if you only have salted butter on hand, just skip the salt in the recipe. You can always add extra to taste as desired but you can’t remove it if it is overly salty.
Ground mustard – This may sound like a strange ingredient but it really does enhance the flavor of the cheddar cheese.

Hi, Mary. Keep it tightly closed and it should stay good to eat for about three days.
