The app is ‘simple to use.’
As consumers focus more on healthy eating, a food tech company has launched an app to make food transparency easier.
In December 2024, WISEcode introduced its WISEcode app which provides over 15,000 details about 650,000 food items.

“WISEcode is reversing decades of lack of transparency in our foods and we are laying bare to the world facts about our foods,” said WISEcode founder Peter Castleman.
WISEcode said its WISEdata™ technology “flips” the way food labels are understood.”The current Nutrition Facts Panel shows just 15 attributes—less than 1% of what’s in our food,” the company explained.
The app allows users to scan a product’s barcode to instantly access critical details about its ingredients and processing levels. This includes identifying ultra-processed foods, harmful components like seed oils, and confirming whether products are truly all-natural.
Future updates, as noted on the WISEcode website, will introduce features to highlight hidden harmful ingredients (“Watch Outs”), foods with clean labels, all-natural items, and common allergens.
The WISEcode app is currently available for download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
