Egg rolls are a delectable Chinese delight and my absolute favorite way to fulfill my midnight cravings!
After all, who can resist that signature delightful crunchiness and the deliciously juicy filling of an egg roll – I surely can’t!
However, oftentimes, I end up ordering way too many egg rolls to devour them in one sitting, so I just put them in my freezer till I feel like eating them again.
With that said, reheating egg rolls can be a bit of a challenge as you need to make sure that they become crunchy and juicy and not mushy or too dry.
However, ever since I learned how to reheat them the right way, I end up with scrumptious, crispy reheated egg rolls every time.

How to Reheat Egg Rolls
There are 5 ways in which you can reheat egg rolls. You can reheat them in the oven, microwave and oven, microwave, skillet, and air fryer.
You can choose whatever method you want, but make sure to follow the steps that I’ve mentioned for each method to end up with crispy and piping hot egg rolls.
Let’s explore each method in detail.
Reheating in an Oven
If you’re looking for the best way to reheat egg rolls so that they become perfectly crispy on the outside, then nothing can beat reheating them in the oven! However, it does take a bit of time so you have to be patient. Here’s how you can reheat egg rolls in an oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- While the oven preheats, use a sheet of aluminum foil to line a baking sheet and place the egg rolls on the sheet.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
- Let the egg rolls reheat for about 5 minutes and make sure to flip them over at the halfway mark so that they can become crispy on both sides.
- After the designated time, take the egg rolls out of the oven to check if they have reheat through. If they haven’t, then put them back in the oven to bake for another 2 to 5 minutes. This will depend on the internal temperature of the egg rolls (ideally, it should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit) and the effectiveness of your oven.

Reheating in a Microwave and Then Oven
This is perhaps my most favorite way to reheat egg rolls as it allows them to crisp up on the outside and become juicy and hot on the inside. With that said, this method takes some time. Here’s how to reheat eggrolls in a microwave and then the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a baking sheet with (aluminum foil and coat the foil with a thin layer of cooking oil.
- Put the egg rolls on a microwave-safe platter and microwave the rolls at a low level for a minute or 2, depending on the number of egg rolls. Since you just want the rolls to warm a bit on the inside, the bottom of the platter needs to be a bit warm to the touch when they are done.
- Put the warmed egg rolls on the prepared baking sheet and use a cooking brush to coat them lightly with cooking oil.
- Bake the egg rolls for about 5 to 8 minutes, flipping them over at the halfway mark so that both sides can crisp up as desired.
Reheating in a Microwave and Then Oven
If you don’t have time, then you can reheat the egg rolls in your microwave. However, make sure that you don’t overheat them or they will become soggy.
Here’s how to reheat egg rolls in a microwave:
- Put a trivet on a microwave-safe platter or bowl and place the egg rolls on top of the trivet. Using a trivet will help prevent the egg rolls from becoming soggy.
- Place the dish and trivet in your microwave and reheat the egg rolls on high setting for about 30 seconds or more if they are sitting in the fridge.
- Flip the egg rolls over and microwave them on high setting for another 15 to 30 seconds.
- Once the rolls have crisped up, remove them from the microwave and check the temperature to make sure that they are hot on the inside before eating them.
Reheating on a Stovetop
Another quick and easy way of reheating egg rolls is to reheat them in a skillet. They will crisp up and become piping hot in no time!
Here’s how you can reheat egg rolls on your stovetop:
- Put a layer of olive oil or cooking spray in a skillet and heat it on medium flame.
- Put the egg rolls in the skillet and let them heat up thoroughly before flipping them over to make sure that they crisp up on both sides.
- Prepare a serving platter by putting two paper towels on it.
- Put the heated egg rolls on the platter so that the paper towels can soak the excess oil and serve them right away!
How to Reheat Egg Rolls in an Air Fryer
When it comes to reheating egg rolls in an air fryer, make sure that you don’t put frozen egg rolls in the deep fryer. This is because they will quickly burn on the outside before the inside gets defrosted.
This is why you must thaw the frozen egg rolls in your fridge before reheating them in your air fryer.
Here’s how to reheat egg rolls in an air fryer:
- Use a pair of tongs to put the egg rolls in an air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Make sure that you place the egg rolls apart from each other so that they don’t stick together while getting reheated.
- Flip the rolls halfway through the reheating process so that both sides get cooked evenly. Flipping them over will also ensure that they become crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
- Take the egg rolls out of the air fryer and eat them right away!
How to Store Egg Rolls
When it comes to uncooked egg rolls, you can put them on a sheet pan with plastic wrap and put the pan in the freezer for about 4 hours so that the rolls can flash freeze.
Put the frozen egg rolls in a heavy-duty freezer bag and seal it tightly. You can keep the uncooked egg rolls frozen for about 6 months.
As for cooked egg rolls, wait for them to cool down to room temperature, then tightly wrap them in aluminum foil.
Put the wrapped rolls in a heavy-duty freezer bag and seal it tightly. This will ensure that the rolls remain moist. You can keep the frozen egg rolls for about 4 months.
