It’s your time to become a lard legend.
It’s no secret that lard has been a staple in kitchens for generations. But at no time is this love for lard more evident than in the 8th #LardLovers Recipe Contest hosted by Coast Packing.
The company is calling culinary enthusiasts to submit original recipes showcasing lard as a key ingredient. Like last year, the competition features two categories: sweet and savory. Participants can compete for first and second place in each category.
“Whether your specialty is a cozy pastry, a comforting cookie, or a savory meat pie, Coast Packing wants to see and taste your best recipes that celebrate the deeply satisfying qualities of baking with lard,” the company said in a press release.
The winners of the #LardLovers Recipe Contest 2023 were Elaine Barbee, who won first place in the Sweet Category with her Bourbon Banana Muffins with Toffee Crumble, and Yoshiharu Sogi, who took first place in the Savory Category with his Pork Meatballs and Scrambled Egg Sliders.
How to enter #LardLovers Recipe Contest
Coast Packing encourages contestants to visit the contest website and follow these steps to enter the competition.
- Submit your original recipe that highlights lard as an ingredient.
- Include a list of all ingredients along with the recipe instructions.
- Add a clear photo of the completed dish.
Rules
As per Coast Packing, recipes must be submitted by November 30, 2024, and winners will be announced on December 8, 2024, in celebration of National Lard Day. No purchase is required to participate, and the contest is open to U.S. residents aged 21 and older.
Prizes
The first-place winner in the Sweet Category will receive a KitchenAid® Design Series Evergreen Stand Mixer, and the second-place winner will receive a Caraway 11-piece Bakeware Set.
In the Savory Category, the first-place winner will receive a GreenPan™ Stanley Tucci™ Ceramic Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set, while the second-place winner will receive a Le Creuset Noel Enameled Cast Iron Round Dutch Oven.
