You can adjust the consistency of your mashed potato by adding cream or milk to the saucepan as the mashed potatoes cook.

Generally, it takes around 8 -10 minutes to reheat mashed potatoes in a saucepan.

However, make sure you don’t stir too hard as that can cause the starch in the potatoes to breakdown, turning the dish into a thick glob. 

2. Use the Microwave

So, it is best to avoid using this method if you can.

To reheat mashed potatoes in a microwave, place them in a microwave-safe dish and put it in the microwave for one minute on high temperature.

Once the microwave stops, take out mashed potatoes, stir them gently using a spoon, and place them in the microwave again.

Repeat this process at least three times to ensure that your mashed are heated through and through.

3. Use the Oven

Using the oven is one of the best ways to reheat mashed potatoes.

You can divide your mashed potatoes into individual servings before placing them in the oven use a big casserole pan to reheat all of them at once.

Preheat the oven to around 350° F and let the mashed potatoes cook for about 30 minutes.

While this method takes relatively long to reheat mashed potatoes, it warms them up perfectly.

You can even add a cheese topping on your mashed potatoes by simply placing a piece of your favorite cheese on top of your mashed potatoes before putting them in the oven. 

4. Bring Out the Double Broiler

You can also use a double broiler to reheat your mashed potatoes. Boil around 2 cups of water in the broiler.

Now, move the mashed potatoes to the glass bowl. Gently stir the potatoes every few minutes to make sure they are heated evenly.

  • While reheating, try adding some butter to make them taste like freshly mashed potatoes.
