Apple Rum Fizz Cocktail Recipe: Your New Fall Favorite!

Apple Rum Fizz Cocktail Recipe: Your New Fall Favorite!

Are you an apple lover? Make this simple and delicious Apple Rum Fizz Cocktail, a 21+ adult beverage that contains rum-plus, brown sugar simple syrup (we’ll show you how to make it), and a LUSCIOUS cinnamon sugar rim!

While classy and decked out, this is still not too fussy to put together.

It’s the perfect drink to serve at your next Thanksgiving or Christmas get-together or anytime around the Fall and Winter seasons.

When you make the brown sugar syrup, you can keep it in your fridge for a few weeks. It’s not super thick like pancake syrup—it can go in other cocktails, coffee, tea, and more.

Let’s get started!

This is a recipe for an alcoholic beverage. If you did not mean to be here, it’s okay to close this tab, just for today.

Tips for making an Apple Rum Fizz Cocktail

  • You don’t have to use all of the jazzy dazzle that we did in the photos, but if you are looking for cutesy, ‘gram-worthy drinks, the rim, the sliced apples and star anise really add to the pizzazz.
  • Slice the apples with a mandoline to get them nice and thin so they don’t take up too much room in the glass. Add them lengthwise to the glass and they will float nicely.
  • The brown sugar syrup doesn’t get thick like pancake syrup. Simple syrup just creates an emulsion so you don’t have grains of brown sugar sitting at the bottom of your drink glass. All of the flavor without the…sediment.
  • If you don’t have or don’t want to add all of the garnish, no problem: leave out the star anise and cinnamon stick. Keep that amazing ground cinnamon/sugar/lemon juice rim, though. It pulls the whole flavor profile together!

  • 2 oz Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
  • 3 oz Soda Water

Garnish

  • 6 Thin Apple Slices
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 Star Anise

Instructions

Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, boil the water.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the brown sugar until it has completely dissolved.
  3. Allow it to cool.
  4. Transfer to an airtight container. We use a bottle like this one. You can keep the syrup refrigerated for up to 1 month.

Cinnamon Sugar Rim

  1. Wash and dry the lemon. Cut a wedge from the lemon.
  2. Squeezing gently, run the lemon wedge around the rim of the highball glass. Set aside for a moment.
  3. Combine the ground cinnamon and sugar on a saucer or lunch plate.
  4. Turn the empty glass over, rim down, and turn firmly into the cinnamon mixture, tilting slightly if needed so you get about a ¼-inch coated rim.
  5. Set aside while you prepare the cocktail.

Apple Rum Fizz Cocktail

  1. Rim the highball glass and turn right side up.
  2. Gently place ice in the highball glass so less of the rim is disturbed.
  3. Add the rum, brown sugar simple syrup, and apple cider to the cocktail shaker.
  4. Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  5. Shake vigorously.
  6. Strain into your prepared highball glass.
  7. Top with soda water.
  8. Float the apple slices lengthwise into the glass.
  9. Add a cinnamon stick lengthwise, and place star anise on the rim, as shown.
