Reddit Insider: McDonald’s Employees Share Their ‘Worst’ and ‘Go-to’ Menu Items

What are your thoughts on this?

If you have ever wondered what McDonald’s employees think of the menu items they serve, these Reddit threads might offer some answers. Redditors claiming to work at the fast-food giant shared their thoughts on the chain’s “worst” and “go-to” offerings, and the responses are gaining attention. The thread reveals a mix of favorites, least favorites, and some surprising insights.

The “Worst” Picks

In a Reddit thread titled, “What do you think is the worst item on the menu as an employee?” among the least favored items, the Big Breakfast stood out as a major contender. For those who don’t know, Big Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, a biscuit, hash browns, and a sausage patty. Top commenter Adinnieken said, “Enough calories for the entire day and enough Sodium for the entire day.”

Another user seconded the motion, adding, “And more sugar and other unhealthy things for more than one day, damn definitely not a good meal to be starting the day off with,” emphasizing its nutritional drawbacks.

The Breakfast Burrito also received negative feedback. Reddit user katsmeow84, a self-claimed former employee, described it as a “questionable” mix of prepackaged scrambled “egg,” pepper mix, half a slice of American cheese, and the “world’s worst tortilla.” The user also mentioned, “Most times, at least 30% of it is hard as a rock,” they said.

Another user echoed this sentiment, commenting, “I hate the burritos…they’re the most popular item on the breakfast menu at my store. I’ll never understand why.”

The “Go-to” Favorites

As the debate over the “worst” items on McDonald’s menu continues, employees have also shared their go-to favorites in a separate Reddit thread. In response to the question, “What is your go-to employee meal?” the top commenter, Redditor AggravatingAd9394, revealed their favorite meal: a 10-piece chicken nugget combo with fries and cookies, or a classic order of two cheeseburgers with ketchup only.

Another user Se7enkb, who admitted their preferences were from a time before they left McDonald’s in 2008, fondly recalled always ordering a double cheeseburger with bacon and Angus seasoning. The mention of the Angus burgers sparked a wave of nostalgia, with one user commenting, “I completely forgot about the angus burgers until right now holy shit thank you for unlocking a core memory lol”

ElkInteresting5739, a Redditor claiming over 20 years of experience at McDonald’s, shared their favorite breakfast option: an open-face bagel with two scrambled eggs, two slices of cheese, and two sausage patties. Meanwhile, a “Canada-based employee” chimed in with their favorite go-to meal: a 10-piece nugget meal paired with habanero sauce and iced tea.

People have different opinions, and not everyone feels the same way. But one thing is clear: McDonald’s employees have their own favorite and least favorite menu items.
