It’s time to update your profile.
If you’re like most people, you probably don’t give much thought to what you put on your dating profile. (And if you’re like most people, you’ve never considered adding cooking as an interest.) Turns out, if you’re not listing cooking, you might be missing out on a key trait singles are looking for.
According to the joint study conducted by Tinder and Knorr, cooking has become one of the top traits people find attractive. In fact, 93% of Gen Z daters say cooking is the “ultimate green flag.”

The survey, which included over 8,000 singles from the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia, found that 63% are more likely to say yes to someone who lists cooking as an interest, while 28% wouldn’t consider dating someone who can’t cook.
When asked why cooking is seen as the ultimate green flag, respondents said that cooking shows care (56%), independence (55%), and the ability to look after others (52%), with many also considering it a sign of thoughtfulness (52%).
Moreover, the research revealed interesting insights into what types of cooking skills are most attractive.
Creative recipes (53%), good chopping (49%), and making dough from scratch (33%) were the top skills. Additionally, 79% of singles said they’d be more likely to agree to a second date if treated to a home-cooked meal, with chicken tacos being a popular choice.
“The Green Flags Study tells us that cooking is a universal green flag in a dating landscape of so many red flags. With our mission to make cooking delicious, nutritious, and accessible, we’re here to be your wingman in the kitchen,” said Gina Kiroff, the brand’s spokesperson.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Knorr and Tinder launched a campaign urging singles to add cooking to their Tinder profiles with the hashtag #UnlockYourGreenFlag.
The initiative encourages people to use cooking to spark connections, with Knorr sharing recipes on Instagram and TikTok to inspire those looking to “brush up on their cooking skills.”
