Popeyes Cajun-Style Turkey Returns for Thanksgiving—Here’s How to Get Yours!

Popeyes for Thanksgiving? Sign me up! The Cajun-style turkey is back for Thanksgiving, and here is how to get yours and what to expect.

Popeyes is bringing back its popular Cajun-style Turkey for the 2024 holiday season, and this pre-cooked, spiced turkey has been a favorite since 2001.

For the third consecutive year, Popeyes is making it easier for customers to enjoy this seasonal treat. Customers can order turkeys directly from the Popeyes website and have them delivered to their doorstep for $99, plus tax.

Popeyes says the turkey starts at $54.99 for in-store orders, but prices may vary by location. Customers are encouraged to call their nearest Popeyes location to check availability before visiting.

Hand-rubbed with a special blend of Louisiana seasonings, the turkey offers a bold flavor and serves about 8 to 12 people, according to Popeyes. One turkey weighs between 11 to 13 pounds, and the $99 price includes shipping, which takes 1 to 3 business days after purchase.

The excitement around Popeyes’ Cajun-Style Turkey has sparked a trend on social media, with fans showcasing their turkey experiences on platforms like TikTok.

One memorable post last year featured a user enjoying the turkey in their car, garnering millions of views. Popeyes commented on the video, stating, “This is the only way to feast 💪.”

Another TikToker did a mukbang challenge with two Popeyes Thanksgiving turkeys, served with mashed potatoes and apple pie.  He described his prepared turkeys as tender, juicy, and falling off the bone.

How to prepare the Cajun-Style Turkey, per Popeyes

Here are Popeyes’ instructions for thawing and cooking Cajun-style turkey

1. Thaw the turkey: 2 methods

  • Refrigerator: Thaw for 72 hours. Heat and eat within 3 days.
  • Cold Water: Submerge the turkey in cold water (below 70˚F) with running water until fully thawed. Keep it below 40˚F while thawing.

2. Cook the turkey:

  • Preheat the oven to 375˚F.
  • Remove the packaging and save the juices. Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan and pour the juices into the pan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and cook in the oven for 1.5 hours.
  • Remove the foil and cook uncovered for 30 more minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 140˚F. Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.

3. Cool and store:

  • Cool the turkey from 140˚F to 70˚F in 2 hours, then to 40˚F in 6 hours. Cut it into smaller pieces or use a shallow container for faster cooling.
  • Refrigerate leftovers and eat within 3 days.
