A Rare Wine That’s Rumored to Be the Ideal Steak Pairing, But Only a Few Can Enjoy It

A Rare Wine That’s Rumored to Be the Ideal Steak Pairing, But Only a Few Can Enjoy It

Your steak has a new companion.

Steak and wine are a popular combination at restaurants, from upscale steakhouses to casual spots. However, the wines often served with steak may not always be the perfect match. Omaha Steaks is offering a wine that claims to be the ultimate pairing for your steak—and it’s as exclusive as it gets.

In early December, Omaha Steaks, in collaboration with Laithwaites, introduced the 1917 Private Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, the “ultimate wine” specially selected to enhance the flavor of their premium cuts.

Want something a little more affordable, dry, and robust? We like this Catena Malbec a lot.

The wine was selected after a blind tasting by experts and crafted by winemaker Bill Knuttel. The full-bodied red wine is described as having “aromas and flavors of blackberry, ripe blueberry and black cherry and plus hints of cocoa and vanilla.”

What also makes this wine special is its exclusivity—only 1,917 bottles exist, a tribute to the year Omaha Steaks was founded. It will cost $149.99 per bottle on OmahaSteaksWine.com.

As part of the launch, each purchase of the 1917 Private Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon enters the buyer into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a deluxe trip to Napa Valley, including roundtrip airfare, three nights’ hotel, a wine experience, and ground transportation for the winner and their guest.

Aside from purchasing the wine, participants may enter by subscribing to emails or text messages from Omaha Steaks Wine or by submitting a letter via mail, with each action providing one entry. The sweepstakes runs through January 15.
