Last-Minute Restaurant Reservations Now Possible Through This New App, But It Comes with a Major Catch

It has “no hidden fees.”

Maybe you’ve struggled to get a last-minute reservation at a popular restaurant or tried to score a table at a trendy spot, only to be met with frustration. Now, there’s a way to get around that, but there’s a catch.

A new app called diibs recently revealed a unique way to secure reservations at some of New York City’s most sought-after restaurants. The catch? The app lets users bid for last-minute tables at top venues.

“Our app empowers diners to access last-minute, high-demand tables with ease, while giving restaurants a simple, solution to optimize coveted tables,” diibs Founder Jordan Weinreb said.

The diibs app works by letting users browse reservations at popular restaurants and place a bid for a table. The highest bid becomes the diner’s minimum spend, meaning they are guaranteed to pay at least that amount for their meal. Bidding happens in real-time, with options available within 72 hours.

Unlike other reservation platforms, diibs claimed it charged no fees for restaurants to join and offered diners “no complicated fees or surprises.”

Currently, participating venues include well-known spots like Sip & Guzzle, Maison Close, and Rocco’s Sports & Recreation, with plans to expand to additional locations such as The Garret, Beefbar, and Snow Lodge in 2025.

The app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play.
