The major catch? Ham as the main ingredient, but it’s no ordinary ham.
Cinco Jotas recently announced that GastroTour, a culinary tour that celebrates Spanish food and the tradition of tapas, will be in Los Angeles from November 4 to 18. And the Spanish brand has a surprise for diners: ham as a key ingredient.
Cinco Jotas ham is a 100% Iberico ham, coming only from pure-bred ibérico pigs raised free-range in the dehesas, according to its website. This premium ham will be the main attraction of the tour, which also features nine renowned chefs from celebrated Los Angeles restaurants.
Participating chefs and restaurants include:
- David Feau – Wally’s
- Job Carter – Michael’s
- Jeff Chen – San Laurel
- Josiah Citrin – Citrin
- Hye Su Lee – The Waldorf Astoria
- Joe Garcia – The Restaurant at Hotel Bel-Air
- Jesus Medina – The Four Seasons Beverly Hills
- Everett Bell – Charcoal
- Drew Rosenberg – CUT
The GastroTour will include unique dishes, such as Porridge with Kanji and Jamón Flash from Jeff Chen at San Laurel, Castelfranco Salad with Apples, Sherry Cream, Vinaigrette, and Cinco Jotas by Josiah Citrin, and CUT’s Cinco Jotas with Shima Aji Sashimi, Melon Ponzu, and Radishes.
Pablo Garrido Cueva, spokesperson for Cinco Jotas, said, “We’re excited to bring the GastroTour to Los Angeles, where the culinary scene is constantly evolving.” He then explained the tour aims to offer a taste of Spain by showcasing the finest Iberico ham and working with chefs who value quality ingredients.
In the press release, Cinco Jotas brand encourages diners to create their own tapas tour across Los Angeles by visiting participating restaurants and sampling distinctive dishes at each stop.
Cinco Jotas’ GastroTour started in London in 2018, with previous U.S. tours in New York City (2020) and Miami (2021). The tour showcases flavors from Michelin-starred and top restaurants.
