If seafood is one of your life’s pure delights, crab toast recipes are probably a favorite! If not, they’re about to be!

For those who may not be familiar, crab toast includes a toasty bread that is topped with a crab meat mixture that may be served warm or cold or room temperature!

Sometimes it is served as a crab toast appetizer and other times it may be a side or part of a party platter.

When deciding what to make with crab, toast and crab recipes are a fantastic choice since seafood can be a little overwhelming sometimes or somewhat pricey sometimes.

Cheesy crab toast could be served on crisp bread, flatbread, full-size or cut toast, toast points, or French bread rounds.

Sometimes it can be a combination of shrimp and crab toast and those are extra delicious, provided you love shrimp of course!

Occasionally a recipe can be found for baked crab toast or even creamed crab on toast.

I attempted to find different mixtures and ingredients in these twelve crab toast recipes included here.

Most recipes are fairly flexible as far as using fresh crab, canned crab, or frozen crab.

I lean towards the ones that have avocado or cheese because I find those a bit more filling but they are all tasty!

Keep in mind that since they are relatively simple, there may only be one or two different ingredients or seasonings, but that does allow for different flavor profiles with the bread selection and the mixture that is added.

So let’s sail out aways and drop anchor offshore where we can explore and enjoy some good seafood!

1. Crab Artichoke Toasts

Many mixtures for crab toast recipes can be made one day ahead.

This means that when you want to serve them, all that’s needed to do is place the cut baguette pieces on a parchment lined baking sheet and spoon the mixture on top of each one for a three minute melt under the broiler!

This mixture is made of Greek yogurt, parsley, lemon juice and zest, garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne.

After those ingredients are smoothly incorporated, the gruyere and Parmesan cheeses, artichokes and crab are gently folded in.

Warm and delicious!

2. Crab Toast Crostini Appetizer

If richness in taste was scalable, this Crab Toast Crostini Appetizer  would be on the high end because this crab meat is warmed in a skillet with butter.

That’s right, butter!

Then it is transferred to a bowl and the rest of the mixture is made by adding mayo, lemon juice, salt, pepper, chives and Old Bay seasoning.

Serve on crostinis or sourdough toast.

This recipe is light enough for appetizers and hearty enough to be a savory lunch!

The Old Bay seasoning completes it!

3. Avocado And Crab Toast

This Avocado And Crab Toast is a wonderful choice for what to make with crab!

The first step is to season the french loaf.

After cutting the loaf in slices, then halving each slice, drizzle with olive oil and place under the broiler for a bit till golden brown.

Then flip the bread pieces and do the same for the other side.

There are two mixtures to put on top with the first being made of an avocado, lime juice, salt, pepper, and red chili flakes.

The crab mixture has crab, mint, cilantro, salt, pepper and lime juice.

Then it is time to assemble.

Garnish with jalapeno slices, radish slices, cilantro and salt.

Tangy and tasty!

4. Open Face Crab Salad Toast

Whole wheat bread or mini bagel chips work great for some toast and crab recipe ideas like this one.

This crab mixture includes Greek yogurt, lemon juice, two kinds of mustard, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, crab meat, diced celery, chives, and cherry tomatoes!

GIve it ten minutes to allow the flavors to combine!

For the assembly, toast the bread, place a slice of avocado on, then some arugula and finally the crab mixture.

This one will deliver smiles all around!

5. Baked Crab Dip

Up next is a Baked Crab Dip that is served as baked crab toast on toasted baguettes or chips of choice.

This luscious dip needs time in the oven to bake before serving, so it can be served family style or spooned out on bread after baking.

The base here is made of cream cheese, mayo and sour cream.

Then the crab, fontina and pepper jack cheeses, shallots, horseradish sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper are added in.

More fontina on top and bake till bubbly!

Amazing is all I can say!

6. Cheesy Crab Melt

This cheesy crab toast is classified as a cheesy crab melt but it is too good not to share here and it could easily be cut into quarters for appetizers.

Thick cut sourdough bread is the base for this melt.

The first part of this baked crab toast is making the mixture to be baked which includes parmesan cheese, mayo, chopped onion, crab, artichokes, parsley, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika all tossed together gently.

Bake until lightly brown.

Warm the sourdough bread slices under the broil just after the mixture comes out.

Spoon the crab mixture over the bread along with two slices of tomato and two slices of Monterey Jack cheese.

Melt under the broiler for a couple minutes.

Scrumptious!

7. Crab & Shrimp Toast

We are getting a bit creative here with this delectable Shrimp And Crab Toast recipe for a combo of flavors and textures!

This mixture begins with Laughing Cow cheese smashed until smooth.

Then the shrimp, mayo, salt, pepper, sugar, garlic powder and whites of green onion are mixed together with the crab incorporated last.

Slice the baguette into rounds and place on a baking sheet.

Spoon some of the shrimp and crab mixture on each slice and bake.

The spicy mayo sauce is drizzled on top of each piece before serving along with a sprinkle of paprika!

Enjoy!

8. Easy Crab Toast

Here we have an easy creamed crab on toast recipe served on slices of a baguette.

This mixture begins with a unique choice of boursin garlic herb cheese, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce and tabasco wamed in a saucepan.

Once the cheeses are melted, fold in the crab.

Slice the baguette and place on a baking sheet to top with spoonfuls of the crab mixture.

Then a third cheese, cheddar, is added as a topping!

Bake and top with parsley and diced tomatoes for a lovely presentation!

9. Spicy Cheesy Crab Melts

Old fashioned crab toast recipes always ring true to simplicity and great taste!

This crab toast mix is served on English muffins sliced in half!

Of course they could be halved or quartered to best suit your needs.

The crab mixture starts with mayo, celery, onion, garlic powder and Tabasco sauce creamed together until smooth.

Then the crab meat and shredded cheddar cheese are gently folded in.

Spoon this mixture onto the sliced English muffins on a baking sheet and broil till the cheese is melted and bubbly!

Mmmmm!

10. Crab Toast

This Crab Toast appetizer comes together on a full size French loaf of bread cut in half!

On the stove, melt butter and saute red pepper, shallot, and garlic.

In a bowl mix together mayo, mustard, parsley, crab meat, cheese and sauteed veggies till all lightly coated.

Sprinkle on salt, pepper and Old Bay.

On a baking sheet set the halved French bread loaf and top evenly with the crab mixture for baking till the cheese melts and the loaf is warm.

Slice and serve!

This creation is oh so satisfying!

11. Lump Crab Toast With Avocado And Tomatoes

If you find yourself wondering what to make with crab that is on hand, I highly suggest this recipe!

This one has a lovely vinaigrette added just before serving!

Here you will slice a large sourdough loaf into four long slices and broil with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper until golden.

There is no mixture, but rather layering on avocado slices, tomato slices, sprouts or microgreens and with the crab on top.

Sprinkle with Old Bay, pepper and a spoonful of the vinaigrette.

Outstandingly wonderful!

12. On The Go Crab & Cheese Toast

Since we would expect on-the-go toast and crab recipe ideas to be quick and simple with no fuss, this recipe delivers in spades.

No story.

No long explanations (though sometimes those are fantastic).

Just the recipe and what to do!

Whether it is a last minute dinner with a side salad or cut into quarters for appetizers, this recipe is doable!

Combine mayo, sriracha, cajun seasoning, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, chopped scallions, lemon zest.

Once smooth, add in crab meat.

Cut ciabatta rolls in half, brush with olive oil and spoon the crab mixture on top.

Bake till the cheese melts and just look how fast that was!

The bottom line

Crab toast recipes can be as simple or complicated as you like!

Some toast and crab recipe ideas are spicy, some are lemony and some are cheesy, but they all are delicious!
