Do you have what it takes?
Chipotle fans, here’s a challenge that could reward you with free food for a year—if you’re up for it. The fast-casual chain has teamed up again with the fitness app Strava to bring back its City Challenge for 2025, and this time, it’s bigger and broader than before.
For the first time, the competition is going international, expanding to 25 cities across North America and Europe, including New York City, London, Paris, and Toronto.
Participants can compete by completing Chipotle’s designated “segments” in their city, which can be done by running, walking, or using a wheelchair. The challenge runs until January 31, 2025.
“After seeing the passion our fans had for the initial launch with Strava, we had to increase access to the competition and raise the stakes,” said Chris Brandt of Chipotle.
The person who completes the segment the most times in each city will earn Local Legend Status, with a year of free Chipotle Lifestyle Bowls as a reward.
Cities are also competing to see which can collectively log the highest mileage, with the winning city earning a Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) entrée offer for everyone.
A new feature this year is the “Chipotle x Strava: The City Challenge Heatmap,” where participants can track their city’s progress in real time.
On January 10, 2025, Chipotle will also celebrate “No Quitters Day,” encouraging people to stick to their New Year’s resolutions. Participants who sign up for a text message community can receive motivational content and a chance to win a free Lifestyle Bowl.
