Spiced Walnuts Recipe

This spiced walnuts recipe makes about one cup of delicious coated nuts, with sugar, cinnamon, cayenne, mace, and salt!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 c walnuts
  • ½ c water
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • ½ t ground cinnamon
  • ¼ t salt
  • 1 dash cayenne
  • ½ t mace

Instructions
 

Bake Walnuts:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spread the walnuts into a single layer. Bake walnuts on a baking sheet for 10 minutes.

Make the sauce:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat add the sugar, water, and spices.
  • Stir.
  • Allow the ingredients to melt. Do not stir the ingredients again until the temperature reaches 238 F.
  • Immediately remove the sauce from the heat.

Coat the walnuts:

  • Add the walnuts to the saucepan and stir.
  • Spread the coated walnuts out on the baking pan and allow them to cool.
  • Serve.
