Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion skin and any tough edges removed
  • 1 roma tomato diced small (about 1/3 cup)
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro finely chopped (using scissors can speed up this process)
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 heavy dash cumin
  • Dash cayenne pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Halve the avocados lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop out the soft, ripe flesh into a medium bowl (or molcajete if you have one)
  • Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches a chunky, creamy consistency—don’t go full hummus mode, though. We want those chunks
  • Stir in the lime juice, salt, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Taste and adjust—more salt or lime juice, if needed, depending on your avocado size and vibe.
  • Gently fold in the diced red onion, roma tomato, and cilantro.
  • Serve immediately in your fanciest (or funkiest) bowl. Pro tip: Pair with tortilla chips, tacos, or a spoon straight to the mouth.
