3chocolate cupcakesstore bought, box made, or from scratch
6Oreo cookies
6brown Reese's Pieces
3orange Reese's Pieces
1containerchocolate frosting
Instructions
Spread a thin layer of chocolate frosting over each cupcake. Keep the layer light so the cookies sit flat instead of sliding.
Carefully twist each Oreo apart and keep the half with the cream attached. Press two cream halves onto each cupcake, cream side up, side by side, for the eyes. Set the bare chocolate wafers aside for the eyebrows.
Press a brown Reese's Piece into the center of each cream circle for the pupil, then set one orange Reese's Piece pointing down in the frosting between the eyes for the beak. See photos above.
Cut the reserved chocolate wafers in half and gently set one half above each eye at an angle, curved edge up.
Notes
Sort the Reese's Pieces into brown and orange before you start. Pulling them out of the bag mid assembly is what slows kids down.Chill the frosted cupcakes for 10 minutes if your kitchen is warm. Firm frosting holds the cookies and candies better than too soft.Assemble the same day you serve. The cookies stay crisp for a few hours, then soften against the frosting.Make as many as you need: Every 3 cupcakes needs 6 whole Oreos, 6 brown Reese's Pieces, and 3 orange Reese's Pieces.
