Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz Classic Cheddar or Classic Onion frozen pierogies like Mrs T's
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 4 T butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 t dried parsley or dried chives for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Peel the onion. Cut the onion in ¼” slices or roughly chop. Set aside.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of butter to a large non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the onions and stir. Cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once onions are soft, add the remaining butter and pierogies to the pan.
  • Cook pierogies uncovered for about 4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for 4 minutes. (This browns each side.) Then cover the pan and turn heat to low; cook for another 2 minutes. (This part will finish steaming the centers and will finish the pierogies al dente.)
  • Remove onions and pierogies from the pan. Garnish with dried parsley or dried chives if desired, and add salt and pepper to taste.
