Course How To Freeze

Ingredients

  • Hummus
  • Freezer
  • Container
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  • Fill the container partly with the hummus. If you fill it to the top, it won’t give the hummus any room to expand as it freezes. It also makes it easier to thaw.
  • Pour some olive oil over the hummus once you’re done transferring it to the container to retain its texture.
  • Then, put the container into the freezer.

Notes

  1. One important trick to freezing hummus is to freeze it in small quantities. The more you freeze in one batch, the longer it takes to thaw, and it also creates a risk of cracking the container.
  2. Remember to add oil to the top of the hummus before sealing the container—it won’t mess with the taste and will help with the texture.
  3. Make sure that the container you’re using is compatible with freezers. Many containers end up cracking or splitting under the intense cold temperatures.
  4. You can freeze hummus for quite a few months, but once you’ve taken it out of the freezer, try to consume it within the next week, or it will go bad.
