4cupsof waterchicken stock or a combination of both
½teaspoonsalt
Instructions
Pour 4 cups of water or stock in a cooking pan. Add 1 cup of rice and ½ teaspoon of salt in it. Bring the ingredients to boil over high heat.
Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat and cover the pan. Let it simmer for 45 minutes.
Keep checking the rice every few minutes to note the texture of the grain. If the grain looks chewy while some of the grains have burst open, cook for another 10-15 minutes.
Turn off the heat when the grain is tender yet not mushy. Now, strain the wild rice in a colander or fine mesh strainer.
Serve the rice in a bowl or plate as per the pairing dish.
