How To Cook Carrots In The Microwave 🥕🥕🥕

This is the easy method for steaming carrots in the microwave in less than 10 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 5 carrots
  • 3 T water
  • ½ t salt

Instructions
 

  • Wash and dry five carrots.
  • Peel the carrots and cut off the tough ends from each.
  • Slice into 1/2″ thick rounds.
  • Place the carrot rounds in a microwave-safe bowl. 
  • Add the water to bowl.
  • Add salt to bowl.
  • Cover the bowl with a lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap.
  • Add bowl to microwave and shut the door.
  • Cook the carrots for 4 minutes on high.
  • With hot pads or mitts, remove the bowl so you can stir the carrots.
  • Carefully remove the lid or gently and carefully pull back the cellophane plastic (be cautious of hot steam) and stir the carrots gently.
  • Return bowl to the microwave and cook for another 3 minutes.
  • Test one or two carrot slices with a fork. Fork should easily go halfway into a carrot piece without resistance.
  • For softer carrots, or if you’ll be mashing them, cover again and cook another two minutes.
  • Optional: Add seasoning and butter to taste. Serve hot.

Notes

The carrots are done when you can easily pierce them with a fork. Cooking carrots in the microwave means you may need to test the pieces a couple times in the middle of cooking. Be careful to avoid overcooking. No one likes a mushy carrot. Except maybe this guy.
