Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions
 

  • In a measuring cup, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar.
  • Pour in the milk until the quantity reaches 1 cup.
  • Stir the mixture gently to combine the lemon juice or vinegar with the milk.
  • Let the mixture sit at room temperature for about 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, the milk will slightly curdle and thicken, resembling the consistency of buttermilk.
  • After the waiting period, your buttermilk substitute is ready to use. Stir it once more before adding it to your recipe.

Notes

  • This substitute works well in recipes that require buttermilk for its acidity and texture, such as pancakes, cakes, and dressings.
  • If you prefer a vegan option, you can use a non-dairy milk in place of regular milk.
