Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare Apples: Peel and core the apples. Cut them into thick slices. If you prefer to leave the skin on, wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
  • Season Apples: In a mixing bowl, combine the cinnamon, maple syrup, brown sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Toss the apple slices in this mixture until they are evenly coated.
  • Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (about 175°C).
  • Prepare Apples for Air Frying: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or use non-stick spray. Arrange the apple slices in the basket in a single layer. You might need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Cook: Air fry the apple slices for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized. Halfway through, you may want to gently turn or shuffle the slices for even cooking.
  • Serve: Serve the air-fried cinnamon apple slices warm, either as a dessert on their own or as a topping for ice cream, yogurt, or pancakes.

Notes

  • The cooking time might vary slightly depending on the thickness of the apple slices and the model of your air fryer.
  • For best results, ensure the apple slices are in a single layer in the air fryer basket to allow even cooking and crispiness.
  • These apple slices are delicious on their own or can be served with ice cream, yogurt, or as a topping for oatmeal or pancakes.
